Peter Godwin
Peter Godwin, a former soldier and journalist, studied law at Cambridge
and International Relations at Oxford. Mukiwa: A White Boy
in Africa, his memoir about growing up in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) during
the Rhodesian Bush War, won the Orwell Prize. His second
memoir, When a Crocodile Eats the Sun (2006), set to the backdrop of
modern-day Zimbabwe, details his discovery of his father's Polish Jewish roots. Godwin has also been a foreign correspondent for the Sunday Times
(London) and a documentary maker for the BBC.
