NYSEC’s 2022-2023 Virtual Professional Development Series, “Writing Home”

Giving A Voice to All Students

Date/Time: Saturday, December 3, 2022, 9-10:30am
Presenter: Larry Reiff, Roslyn UFSD

Please join NYSEC on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 9:00 – 10:30 am for the second workshop in our 2022-2023 virtual professional development series, “Writing Home.”

According to a 2021 study by the National Institute of Mental Health, social anxiety disorder (SAD) affects 1 out of 3 adolescents between 13 and 18 years old. Over 19 million people across America suffer from social anxiety disorder.

Despite this data, many educators still make class participation mandatory and link it directly to a student’s grade. This session will show attendees alternative means of assessing the knowledge and thinking of students who are reluctant to speak in class. Attendees will get hands-on practice with ideas that they can implement immediately.

Registrants will be provided with a Zoom link prior to the session.
