Book Banter: The Searcher by Tana French

Kasey Stecher, January 2026

Genre: Realistic Fiction/Mystery

This novel, the first in a series, introduces readers to the Irish countryside, its people, landscape and customs, through the eyes of a Chicago detective turned expatriate. His work doesn’t end as he tries to retire to the quiet Irish countryside..

My advice:
This book is another one that makes for a GREAT listen on audiobook. I didn’t know it was a series at first, and so I was initially underwhelmed, but knowing there is more to the story changes everything! The next book in the series is called The Hunter.
